50 Designers Dazzle At Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2016

Over 50 African designers of repute dazzled at the just concluded Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2016,at the Eko Hotel & Suites from 1st to 3rd of July 2016.The highly anticipated and much talked about Fashion Week kicked off on the 1st of July,2016 with its inaugural edition of AFWN Textile & Garment Manufacturing Conference.

The theme of AFWN Textile & Garment Manufacturing Conference was "Making Nigeria the Fashion Production Hub of Africa".

The conference which
aims to redefine textile and garment production processes in Nigeria and its entire value chain in order to boost job creation and a future of shared prosperity for Nigerians had fashion entrepreneurs, development finance institutions, and textile industry groups as the speakers of the day educating and shedding light on how to improve on production process, job creation,and funding.

The AFWN Textile & Garment Manufacturing Conference had Mrs. Aisha Abubakar, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment; Dr. Mustapha Abiodun Akinkunmi, Commissioner for Finance, Lagos State; Mr. Akintunde Oyebode, Executive Secretary, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund; Mrs Folake Oyemade, Managing Director of Sam and Sara; Mr. Dapo Adelegan, President, Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce; Mr. H. A. Kwajaffa, Director General, Nigeria Textile Garment and Tailoring Employers Association; Ms. Jennifer Anoyika, Director General, Nigerian-German Business Association; Miss Doris Onwugamba Managing Director, Manufacturing Resource Centre, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN); Dr. Peter Kondricz, Commercial Diplomat/First Secretary, Embassy of Hungary; Dr. Johannes Flosbach, Head of Performance Management Group, TGI Group, and Chioma Nwagboso, Advisor on Public Private Partnerships for GIZ (German International Cooperation) all in attendance.

Day 2

Day two of the very successful Africa Fashion Week Nigeria saw a lot of creative African fashion designers doing what they love to do best. Over 50 models strutted the runway showcasing eyepopping,and jawdropping pieces. The exhibition hall was filled to the brim with a lot of creative exhibitors who had lovely items on display to the delight of the guests who were ready to shop.

There were three shows for the day with beautiful pieces from talented designers such  as Niposkin,O'Saunders,Niife,Nikki Kay,Tasha Gillies,Dozzy Couture,Elawe,Victoria Grace,Yima Kurfi,Neopelle,Tiannah Styling Academy Collection, and a host of others on the runway.

It was indeed an exciting time out for the guests as they also had loads of fun,with music from Nigerian artistes.

Day 3

All roads led to Eko Hotel & Suites for the Gala Show of Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2016 on Sunday 3rd of July which marked the end of the fashion week in Nigeria for the year 2016. It was an elated crowd that celebrated with the winner of the highly coveted Nigeria's Next Top Designer,Okpa Mccoy Agada of Mcstell Fashion Gallery. The competition was a keenly contested one,which ended as a fair competition,as everyone in the hall supported the choice of winner. Nigeria's Next Top Designer is a platform that offers opportunities to young Nigerian fashion designers with talent and self confidence.

After the NNTD competition it was time for the red carpet which preceded the event which everyone had been waiting for- The Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2016 Gala Show.

Dignitaries,and celebrities who graced the red carpet in style include: Oluwo of Iwo,and his beautiful Queen,Rotimi Amaechi,Olori Wuraola Ogunwusi of Ife,Jennifer Obayuwana,Abbah Folawiyo, Joke Sogunro,Monalisa Chinda,Iyabo Ojo,Annie Idibia,and Kaffy,who also graced the runway alongside their beautiful kids.

The event which was hosted by Layole Oyatogun,and Cool FM's Kaylah Oniwo featured designers like Ade Bakare,Rois and Reine,Agatha Moreno,Yomi Casual,Pacciro,Bello/Edu, Rikaoto by Me,Mcstell,Yemi Alade,Toyin Lawani,Veba,Lanre Lagos,Trish O,and Swarovski.
