The
5th anniversary of Lagos
Fashion and Design Week may have come and gone,but memories of the
beautiful and very creative displays still linger. Some of the best
fashion designers showcased their designs for the world to see,and we
also got to see some talented and creative emerging designers. Here is a
list of a combination of the popular brands,and also emerging designers
who rocked the just concluded Lagos Fashion And Design Week 2015. I had so much fun at the four day event,and hope you enjoy this feature which has some of my favorite fashion designers. By the way, I want one of those pieces from House Of Kaya! Lol! Enjoy the exclusive feature guys!

Mo'fari Couture is a “Regal” women's wear brand created by Omowunmi Owonifari. The very creative designer who was an LFDW 2014 Fashion Focus Finalist showcased structured peplum tops, shirt dresses with stunning embellishments, structured capes, blazers and tuxedo dresses, and two beautiful wedding dresses.
Tiffany AmberMo’Fari
Mo'fari Couture is a “Regal” women's wear brand created by Omowunmi Owonifari. Folake Coker's "Tiffany Amber" opened this year's event,and it was a beautiful sight as the models spotted nude glowing makeup created by Maybelline New York Nigeria, with braided accents. Showcasing her Spring/Summer 2016 Collection tagged “Marina“, the show was nothing less than excellent. Curated by the Tiffany Amber Team, the show had some of the biggest names in Nigerian/African fashion walk the runway, like Oluchi Orlandi.
P.O.C
After his debut last year with ready-to-wear tunics, Papa Omisore of P.O.C has taken his fashion brand to the next level as a finalist for this year’s Fashion Focus.
At the Day 1
event he showcased a collection of pieces which
had clean and monochromatic patterns, paired with gladiator sandals in

Orange Culture
Adebayo Oke-Lawal of Orange Culture had the opening slot for Day 2 of the 2015 Heineken Lagos Fashion & Design Week,and it was fabulous.Orange Culture collection embraced vibrant colours and unusual styles but Adebayo Oke-Lawal totally pulled it off.
Ejiro Amos Tafiri
Ejiro Amos Tafiri showcased her Spring/Summer 2016 collection inspired by Cathedral stained glass windows and religious dress styles. She was as usual one of the best designers of the night.
Luvita Creations

This womenswear fashion introduced its Efik-inspired collection at LFDW Day 1. The aim of the collection is to modernise and still appreciate the rich culture in the South Eastern region of Nigeria.

brand focused on individuality and diversity for the collection, with
pieces that can be detached, bold & fun paisley print and more.
Josh Samuels
Nigerian menswear design label, Josh Samuels' Creative director, Udiminue Joshua showcased some really dapper looks for the Spring/Summer 2016 .
Akpos Okudu
Akpos Okudu's designs were flirty and feminine. Blush tones and light pieces were the highlight of the night as she pushed out piece after piece of her Spring/Summer 2016 collection.
Funke Adepoju
For her Spring/Summer 2016 collection, Funke embraced sequins, lace, floral elements. The collection featured peplum blouses, asymmetrical hemlines, cut-outs, tulle skirts and many more fabulous pieces.
Amede
Nigerian womenswear designer Amede Nzeribe of Amede showcased pieces with bright hues, inspired by renaissance paintings and artwork by famous painters. Staying true to the brand’s aesthetics & ethos, this collection is expressed in tye & dye batik.
Kinabuti
The Kinabuti Rome Collection showcased a lot of ethnic pieces with tie-dye fabric and batik. They were ready-to-wear looks. According to the brand, the Kinabuti Rome Collection embodies the brand's vision of building a sustainable fashion sector in Nigeria. The whole process from creating tie-dye and batik prints, to bringing the sketch from wearable pieces, was carried out by the women trained through skill empowerment programs making it a purely ethical collection.
Orente Ayaba
Orente Ayaba who showcased her designs at the New York Fashion Week as well as the London Fashion Week, showcased her Spring/Summer 2016 collection which was an array of bright and colourful pieces with stylish geometric prints and designs and pretty patterns.
Onalaja
Day 2 of the Heineken Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2015 saw the design label showcase its Spring/Summer 2016 collection with fun and flirty pieces with insect prints and flowing gowns to tailored tuxedo and shift dresses and pantsuits.
DNA by Iconic Invanity
DNA by Iconic Invanity is a diffusion label created by Nancy Nwadire’s daughter – Destiny Nwadire. On Day 3 of the Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2015, we got to see DNA’s first collection, which also served as their official launch into the Nigerian/African fashion industry.
The
collection was centered around flowers with fun and unique pieces in
bold and bright hues gracing the runway. The flower designs found on the
tops and skirts have been outlined with embellishments and different
coloured fabrics, and the collection also included a separate set made
from aso-oke.
Meena
Meena by Uju Offiah‘s Spring/Summer 2016 collection was simply fabulous. Her aesthetics, inspired by origami shapes, cuts and structures, looked really nice on the models.
Toju Foyeh
Toju Foyeh unveiled the ‘Beguile’ collection which was a bridal collection with gorgeous gowns in white and a couple of other looks that would be perfect for the bridesmaids, at Day 3 of the Lagos Fashion & Design Week. There were floral undertones and a rich luxurious feeling to the collection.
Wuman
The Wuman fashion designer presented glistening, evening gowns, shift dresses and more for his fashion week debut.
Nuraniya
For Nuraniyia’s fashion week debut, she presented a cool collection with pieces which featured cut-outs, mesh inserts, double slit hemlines and more,and the models rocked leather gloves and cool shades.
Red Knight
Red Knight’s collection was an eclectic mix of pieces,from blazers in leather and sequins, to tuxedos in bold hues and print trousers and shirts.
Deji
Deji's pieces had a more traditional feel, mixed with modern pieces that brought balance from both worlds to the collection in it's entirety.
Sunny Rose
From Ankara jumpsuits to lacy dresses
and more, Sunny Rose's collection was filled with wardrobe essentials that every
woman would love to have.
A surprise performance by Mavin Records artist Di’Ja rounded out the showcase.
April by Kunbi
Kunbi Oyelese of April by Kunbi showcased her collection for Spring/Summer 2015 – “InTuxicated“ which had a series of 3 colour sets – white, black and red. Each piece that came down the runway had lovely embellishments in floral patterns, plunging necklines, mesh detailing, lace coverings, flowing trains, capes and more.
By the way, I loved the end of the presentation where the closing model’s dress doubled as lingerie,and Gulder Ultimate Search winner, Dominic Mudabai who is also a model came on stage to add to the "Intuxicated" flavor.
Kiki Kamanu
Kiki Kamanu‘s “Kamanu Sutra” collection showcased pieces for men, women and kids, with very laid back pieces. The essence of the collection however is seen in the inscriptions on the pieces. With words like ‘#IAmMalala’, ‘#NoOneDoesItBetter’, ‘Something Different from Lagos’, ‘Lagos’, ‘Mushin’. ‘Paris’ and more! Denrele’s strut was the surprise of the night. He showcased two outfits, and had people clapping and cheering him on as he walked the runway in heels.
Lanre DaSilva-Ajayi
Popular Nigerian womenswear designer, Lanre DaSilva-Ajayi showcased her Spring/Summer 2016 collection titled “Geometric Fusion” at the end of the Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2015.
Influenced by geometry, the designer used tie-dye from the Nike Art Gallery
and digital images to create hexagon and triangle tessellation print
for this season. The collection features strict forms and minimal cuts
that created very feminine and easy shapes that allowed for loads of
movement.
Weizdhurm Franklyn
My Oh My! Weizdhurm Franklyn's collection totally wowed me. I looked on in amazement as he showcased pieces which had a rich baroque pattern and
hand beading emblazoned on them. The collection was filled with rich
embroidery details and voluminous trains.
According to the designer, he was inspired by the baroque era for his SS16 collection.
Ade Bakare
Inspired by the Masai tribe of East Africa,Ade Bakare‘s “Masai” collection feeds off the tribe’s colourful way of dressing and the beauty of their nomadic nature. To create the collection, Ade Bakare researched into the Masai’s use of fabric, beads and adornment and translated them into tribal & ethnic pieces that lay foundation for structured silhouettes for Spring/Summer 2016.
Rayo
Rayo
who was one of the finalists of last year’s Fashion Focus, showcased on
the last day of the Lagos Fashion & Design Week. Pieces from the
collection had a fusion of white crepe with intricate detailing
techniques.
Conae Insignia
Conae Insignia showcased her ‘Ageless’ Spring/Summer 2016 collection which had cut-outs, fringed hemlines, plunging necklines and capes.
The fashion focus finalist showcased a collection that was unconventional, unique and all made with traditional fabric.
Johnson & Johnson
The Johnson & Johnson collection was quite dapper and he played with a lot of prints.
House of Kaya
This was yet another "My Oh My" moment for me as House of Kaya showcased pretty and stylish pieces ideal for a more modest crowd.
There were hijabs,scarfs and gorgeous flowing gowns with intricate embroidery. I loved this collection!
