Kwam 1

Here's what the King of Fuji music told NET in a recent interview

‘Unfortunately, I don’t do drugs. On record, I’ve not smoked since I became a musician, I remember I used to smoke cigarette in my early days, and I was able to stop it even before I became recognised. Ever since then I’ve never smoked in my life or use any enhancer. But when you see me on stage, you’ll think I’ve just been injected, but the truth of it is that I stay healthy as much as possible and I’m very passionate about my music.’

Gossiping About Others Boosts Self Esteem- New Study

According to a new study, gossiping may be good for our self-esteem because it allows us to compare ourselves to others.

A group of Dutch researchers have found out that hearing positive and negative gossip about another individual boosts self-reflection and self-evaluation. Elena Martinescu at the University of Groningen said:
'Women who receive negative gossip experience higher self-protection concerns possibly because they believe they might experience a similar fate as the person being the target of the gossip. Men who receive positive gossip experience higher fear, perhaps because upward social comparisons with competitors are threatening.'
Professor Martinescu added gossip provided individuals with indirect social comparison information and provides an essential resource to reflect on their behavior. She suggested that rather than trying to block out gossip, we should 'accept gossip as a natural part of our lives and receive it with a critical attitude regarding the consequences it may have on ourselves and on others.'

These Oyinbo people sha! Don't we all know that GOD doesn't want us to gossip about others?

Qismat Meets Sisi Yemmie

Yaay! I finally got the chance to interview one of my favorite bloggers, Yemisi Sophie Aiyedun  a.k.a Sisi Yemmie. Sisi is a lifestyle blogger who blogs at . Sisi Yemmie who has been able to carve a niche for herself as a blogger, has a degree in Mass Communication, MA in International Diplomacy, and a Diploma in Internal Communications. In an exclusive chat with Qismat Yinus, she takes us through her journey into the blogging world.

What inspired you to become a blogger?
I was studying for my masters and had quite a lot of free time on my hands, I didn’t know what to do. Sometime that summer my husband, (then boyfriend) asked if I’ve considered blogging and showed me a few American & British blogs…I started immediately because it all clicked! I’ve been writing in a notebook with no outlet.

What does blogging mean to you?
Blogging is sharing: lifestyle, tips, tricks, humour, recipes and anything that makes life worthwhile.

What are the challenges you face as a blogger, and how have you been able to overcome them?
I’m a vlogger as well, so I produce video content on YouTube and that can be challenging if you don’t have the right tools. So I saved up and bought my first proper camera…as time goes by you invest in blogging which is what I have been doing.

What do you think about the emerging blogging industry in Nigeria?
I love that more Nigerians are becoming aware of blogging but the sad part is the lack of originality and total disregard/lack of awareness of intellectual property rights. So many bloggers copy too much from others, if you learn to be original; you will reap the rewards of originality.

Who are your favorite bloggers in Nigeria?
Me, Me, Me! I have a lot of favorite blogs and it would totally be unfair not to be able to mention them all.

How would you describe your kind of blogging?
My type of blogging is
personal
lifestyle blogging, sharing what I know and entertaining my readers in the process.

Are you fulfilled as a blogger?
I am very fulfilled
, I love blogging,
but there’s always more to be done, there’s need to evolve.

Any advice to upcoming bloggers?
Be original! Work Hard!

Favorite Color: Can I chose three? Yellow, Pink and Teal!

Favorite Food:  This is difficult, but I’ll go with Starch and Banga soup.

Favorite Place In The World: My bed

Favorite Person in the world: Me!

Favorite Song Of All Time: I don’t think I have one!
Favorite Nigerian Artiste:  It changes but for now Kefee (RIP)

That has been another QYB Exclusive signed, sealed, and delivered.
